Everyday linen

In The Props Dept, we LOVE linen. It appears pretty much in every image we style and photoshoot simply because the material is so versatile in terms of style and adds textures to the pictures. We also love linen as it is the most environmental friendly textile during production and to use daily be it in the kitchen or on the table.

Many of our friends asked where to purchase real linen products in Hong Kong but it seems difficult to answer. There are either luxurious or mass market linen products but nothing in between. Very often, we are frustrated to find out there is only 10% of linen in the so called linen products.

So we thought, why don’t we make a proper one?

We found our supplier in Lithuania where traditionally flax was cultivation and processed, stretching back several thousand years ago. There are many folklores about flax that accompanied the Lithuanians since the ancient times including a Lithuanian god called “Gabjauja”, the guardian of the flax harvest.

The tales of flax and linen have evolved into a lifestyle in Lithuania and beyond. Today, linen garments can be seen on dinner table or any occasions.

Our linen is made with flax from Europe, which is rather unusual. The flax is weaved into linen for making products. All the procedures are done in a family owned factory in Lithuania, with love.

We decided to start our range of linen products in what we know best - table and kitchen. The range includes napkins, tablecloths, table runners, placemats, coasters, aprons and bags with various colours. The weaving might be slightly different but it is indeed a natural surprise that we should embrace. All the linen is pre-washed and pre-shrunk. It means that it will not shrink nor the colour won’t fade.
